They both have a small and a large cannon, and it's very easy to get overwhelmed if the gunner misses too many heavy shots, and the navigator sucks. I don't feel any of the darkness(dark levels excluded) and generally go guns blazing as there is no need to plan much more than about 1 minute ahead.īoth games are equally unforgiving. Other hand, WNTGD, is bright and cartoony. I love the way the darkness in Barotrauma is more or less constant, choking, and forbidding. Yes, they both happen in subs, but it's always just the details,time, planet, overall art style and feel. Yes, a meltdown happens really fast, as does actual combat, but there's a bit more in the planning department. You own Barotrauma, so you already know that fast paced is not the overall game feel. Little actual goal other than to go deeper and fight off ever increasing hordes of enemies.(There is a 'goal', but it's a spoiler, kinda.) Yeah, this is a fast paced arcade style rouge-like. You can buy stuff with the loot that get while playing too, like clothes, different subs, weapons and tools. You can find random civilizations, dungeons, boss lairs, etc. There are diverse biomes that you'll find as you go deeper. It's like a rogue-like but with submarines. That said this game is a lot more relaxed, that's for sure. There aren't any classes either, there are just different tools that anyone can pick up and use willy-nilly. Managing the AI crew in this game is more frustrating than Barotrauma, because they don't communicate with you and you can't tell them individually what you want them to do. It doesn't have the awesome physics and crew-management that Barotrauma does. In this game your sub actually has a health bar too. The sub can flood and you can drown, but that's it. While in barotrauma healing is complicated, repair not so easy (especialy there is separated tasks for mechanics and engineers), steering is not easy (or people on "let's play" I mention before couldn't handle that), to go outside you need to put suit on, with limited oxygen tank (while in WNTGD there is no such thing like even putting suit on, except diving helmet for exploration caves, but it is putting automaticly, with not limited oxygen), to do certain repairs the suit is also required to be on, to not be crushed by water pressure. Looks definitelly not realistic (some like it some not), and quite easy to learn.īarotrauma tries to be more realistic, there's more "roles" and tasks (in WNTGD you need to repair, heal, steer and shoot). WNTGD is less complicated, for less number of players (max. look pretty similar to me champ, infact this just looks like a blatant copy which is why iask the question in the first place C-copy?! I've seen enough "let's play" from barotrauma and play a lot WNTGD, so I can point some out differences.
